please reply...new tankmate

I currenlty have a 30 g reef tank with a dwarf fuzzy lionfish and clarki clownfish. The fuzzy has been in there for a while and I recently added the clarki to get some daytime activity in the tank. So far, there have been no problems and the two basically leave eachother alone. The fuzzy has continued normal behavior. I was thinking of adding another fish for more daytime activity. Am I starting to over do it here? Since my tank is small (30 g), I fear there may be an overcrowding issue here. Also, I fear I may not be able to keep up with the waste the three may produce. I do weekly water changes with the best source in town and so far my parameters have been maintained. Is there anyone out there that may be able to provide some advice?? Any suggestions?? I dont want to take too great of a risk here for one more fish. I understand any fish I choose will have to be large enough as not to be eaten by the fuzzy. PLEASE REPLY. I have posted a couple threads and have not got a good number of responses.

The only problem is clarki clowns can get pretty big, so eventually you may have too much of a bioload. What kind of flitration/skimmer do you run? You could add one more fish as long as your filteration/skimmer can keep up and you don't have any aggression issues (that will depend on the fish you add). I would call it quits on one more though, small FOWLR's are tough. Do you have a host anemone for the clown? You could get maybe a flamehawk or flame angel, they'll add lots of personality. Also an algae blenny is quite the character.

I have a CBR Bak Pak protein skimmer and an aqua clear power filter. No host anemone for the clown. I do have a hammer coral which it has started to show some interest in. Thanks for the suggestions though. I was thinking of some kind of blenny. I will look into the algae blenny. Any other suggestions??

While I basically agree with DPS, I do think you could be pushing it a bit with a third fish, especially in a reef. A FOWLR would be a little easier, but could still get crowded, just with the clarkii and the lion when they reach adult size. Are you prepared to eventually upgrade? How big are the lion and the clownfish now?

What kind of fish do you have in mind? I like sailfin blennies, and they get to be decent sized. You might consider a bangai cardinal (if you get a larger one) or even a large royal gramma. Grammas aren't very big, but I think a big one would probably be okay with your lion.

I dont plan on upgrading anytime soon, however, it is not completely out of the relm of possibilities. I would like to plan as if I will not upgrade. The clarki is about 3 in. and the fuzzy is about 3.5 in. I do have a protein skimmer currently running with a power filter. I was thinking something like a cardinal, blenny, green chromis, or dwarf angel. Angel is probably the last choice since they nip and may impact my zoos, open brain, hammer, or mushrooms. Cardinal is second to last since they dont swim much. I like the idea of a blenny to bring some activity to my rockwork. Any suggestions on a specific species of blenny. Or other fish to consider. I would be nervous about a gramma since the ones I have seen have been kind of small.

Blennies are active and have cool personalities. Many can also help control algae. I think a starry blenny would be fine.
