So, who's got one? It seems to behave more like a hawkfish than anthias, perching on rockwork, etc? I wonder if they'd be a jumping risk on a rimless tank.

We need to get some of these state-side!

There are only 2 that I know of that actually have possesion of them. One is in a amazing tank in Thailand ;) and the other is the one that cane from Greenwich Aquaria and I believe is in Idaho or Ohio by a private fish collector. The fish behaves like a hawkfish, perching, and sometimes territorial. As for the next one that hits our shores, you might have to wait a bit, because the next one is mine :D I will shoot you a PM later because I have something that might interest you ;)

ChingChai recently obtained a pair from BH.

I know there have been imports of these in the past. I sure would be nice to get some now.

This is one of my dream fish!

I had heard that the VERY few that came in weren't even that expensive...~$200 or so.

For that price, I'd do a pair!

$500.00 to $600.00 ?

I thought these fish were much more than that.

Why are they not brought in more often? What is the story behind this fish?

~Michael

The last one came into the US from southern Japan. The fish is reportly also in the Indian Ocean and South Africa. Now the exact reason, story or legend of why it is hard to collect I honestly could not tell you. If Joe stops by I am sure he could tell us or Michael at AT.

why it is hard to collect

hook and line. The Sacura are collected like this, and that is where the other Pseudanthias, Callanthias, Plectranthias and sometimes even Gymnothorax are coming from. Usually they catch the P. kelloggi which would fall into that $5-600 price range, though it really needs water <70F.

Much too deep for the people in Mauritius to collect, though it is named after Daniel Pelicier. He couldn't dive anymore AFAIK due to some medical reason, maybe the bends...i dunno i've only seen his Halichoeres in person

these are 2*(the price of gem tangs)
I have looked in to geting one but the guy that use to dive that deep in mauritius is not diving so deep any more (the guy the fish is named after)
