Can i use pvc primer and pvc cement to cwment a pvc to a bulkhead. I will attach a pic i found on the net. I have my tank drilled at the back of the tank amd i have a diy overflow glass box. Also woulld a braided nylon pvc be quieter than a pvc pipe? Im debating wether to use braided nylon to use for overflow plumbing. Thanks

you can glue that to the bulkhead.i would recommend getting a better valve though. that looks like the one at HD or lower. they suck. you don't need to buy the one at BRS, there is comparable ones on Amazon for about half the price.

I agree on the valve. Ball valves are a PITA to adjust. I swapped mine out for a gate valve very quickly.

I used braided nylon on my overflow. No complaints.

As far as the PVC glue, etc., once dry the product is chemically inert, so yes you can use it. PVC to ABS, PVC to CPVC, and PVC to PVC, all have different glues. I believe you can use the general adhesive for all, but I would use the product labeled for the specific application.

IMO a short piece of standard or braided nylon would be a better option than permanently cementing a bulkhead. Use the short piece of nylon tube to connect the bulkhead to the PVC. You can cement the PVC to the nylon if you wish.

Just so I understand (cuz I'm setting up another tank this week myself) are you talking about using a clamp to secure the braided nylon to the part of the bulkhead that protrudes out the back of the tank, and then connecting the other end to pvc? I'm assuming you'd need a barb fitting. I'm not certain that you can glue PVC to Nylon securely.

The way I did it on my currently running tank was: bulkhead>90 street>barb fitting>nylon>barb fitting>90 street>sump bulkhead. The 90's are cemented, as are the barbs. The nylon is clamped.

Yes. This is how I connected my return pump to my PVC. The fitting can be hard to find. I wouldn't metal clamp anything. I used two zip ties around the bulk head barb.

Yeah, I used plastic clamps. BRS sells all of these connections/fittings.
