Plumbing advice

I'm picking up a 180 gallon tank from a friend next weekend.

I have room in other tanks to store all of the live rock, live sand, invertebrates, and the few corals and fish that currently live in the tank while I set it up.

The tank currently is displayed on a brick island in a living room with one of the narrow sides against a wall. Basically, there are three viewable sides and the tank divides the living room from the dining room.

The tank uses a hanging overflow and is not drilled. All of the plumbing (RO/DI filter with auto top off and chiller) run to a 40 gallon sump on the other side of the wall.

I'm going to connect the RO/DI filter to an existing line hidden in a cabinet that feeds my ice maker. I'll just T the line. I'm not sure if I will mount the filter in that cabinet or just run a line from there to the stand and store the filter there close to the chiller.

I'm going to build the stand (or at least the frame of the stand) this weekend. I can build it so that it makes use of the current overflow box or I can plan to drill out the tank for hard plumbing.

Can you guys offer suggestions to me, regarding the placement of the RO/DI unit and which overflow to use?

I suggest that if you have the space you install the ro/di unit in that cabinet, it wil save you space under the tank plus it will probably be easier to change the filters when the time comes.
As far as the overflow is concern, there are many manufacturers and designs each claiming to be better than the other, I dunno which one is best but will suggest you to look for one that matches your flow needs.
