Plumbing Design Help

I am getting ready to rework the plumbing on my 120 gallon reeftank.

I have a new reef ready 120 acrylic with a single overflow. It will go down into a 45 gallon refugium. I will be running a Octo Extreme 200 Skimmer, then the fuge, then returning with probably an Eheim 1262. The refugium itself has bulkheads built in for a 1" inlet and a 3/4" return.

So my question is how should I run the piping? This is my first crack at doing this myself and I want to make sure to do it right the first time.

What kind of piping? Rigid PVC, Flex PVC, Vinyl?

What valves should I have in the piping? Check, Ball, What else?

If anyone has a diagram or something that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance, this forum is GREAT!

I'm no expert, but with my recent 180g build I used flex pvc for the first time after using rigid for years, and it was fantastic to work with. IMO stay away from check valves, they can fail and cause a flood, use siphon breaks in the return just below the water line instead. I purchase all my ball valves and true unions from www.savko.com and was pleased with the quality and quick shipping. Put unions on everything you think you might want to take apart one day...

Again, I'm no expert, but that would be my advice.
