Plumbing from an overflow to a sump

OK, I decided to not get a bigger tank. I am going to put a sump under my 20gal tall. I want to use a CPR overflow and either a rio a or an eheim return pump. Any opinion on the relitive quality of return pumps?

Are the Rios loud?

Is the CPR overflow reliable?

Now for my most important question...

I will be using a 10 gal fish tank for my fuge/sump. What is the best way to plumb from the overflow to the fuge to achieve the following goals?

Reliable
Quiet
Fewest bubbles

Should I use hard or soft plumbing?

Show pics of your plumbing if you can!

Eheim are good pumps, so are Mag. Avoid Rio!

I have flexible PVC overflow and rigid PVC return.

You should have any problems with bubbles if you get an appropriate sized pump. If you get a larger pump and "dial it down" with a ball valve the extra turbulence could cause bubbles.

Easy way to plumb:

CPR overflow to 1" flex PVC to sump/fuge
Few baffles in the sump (www.melevsreef.com)
Good return pump with a ball-valve on the return line

You can use a "U" tube return:

Or you can make your own out of PVC and use LocLine pieces inside the tank.
