Moving on Up
Need some plumbing help. Will be doing plumbing on a 260 gallon tank. It's a peninsula tank so it has two 1.5 inch drain bulkheads and two 1" returns on the same overflow box. I want to do a manifold to run my chiller my UV and my algae scrubber in addition to hook a hose up for water changes. I will have one external blueline 100 hd as the pump. Can someone please give me some suggestions on the best way to plumb the return pump including a manifold. Thanks for your help.

Have the return feed into a t. One end for the tank return with a gate vale the other towards the manifold. I’d have the tank return go straight with an off shoot for the main for better flow. Gate valve will determine flow on the manifold.

I’m building mine next week. I saved some money by using ball valves on the mani vs gate valves.

Ok. Thanks. So thru the manifold then also back up to the return?

I think they mean this....

On a 260 - another pump altogether if possible - redundancy and added flow/control. But - if I did both off one pump - I'd T off higher behind the tank from the line going up but that extra T is going to count as another foot of head pressure on that single pump.

You need to have the gate valve on the tank side of the T. It's going to give you the backpressure adjustment to help control flow into the mani.

I also have 2 returns on mine. I have another T at the top to split the return.

Hey op, not done yet but the mani is up and running. I have 4 outlets. 1 for a small reactor, 2 empty, and the last one for my UV. This is on my freshwater tank so its probably not what your used to seeing. Hope it helps

If someone knows how I can attach pictures of imgur off an iPad I’ll imbed them.

You can feed all or some of those of your drain lines. I would really recommend feeding your ATS via the drain line. Why spend money on electricity pumping water when you can use gravity to do it free?
