Hello fellow reefers. I am currently plumbing my 220 and would like to have it cycling before the week is over as the tank has been sitting dry in my lving room for way too long. Despite years and years of experience, none of my tanks ever were drilled or built with internal overflows. I always ran HOB overflows since I felt I was able to manage emergencies better this way. Plus it probably had to do with the fact that if you are used to doing something the same way forever and it always works...why deviate.
Well with my 220 I decided to go with built in overflows (2 corners - 1 1/4" durso and return built into each corner). I am running a Iwaki wmd40rxlt pump, ASM g3 skimmer and a 40 gal sump. Since I never had to plumb a system like this, I am trying to figure out what the best way to set up the plumbing. I intend to add a wavemaker device in some time, but for the time being I plan on just splitting the outflow from the Iwaki to the returns. I am also concerned that the 2 returns are sufficient flow in the system.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions. (I realize I may need to add supplemental flow through some powerheads,) Thanks in advance.
