plumbing/pump maintenance??

My main pump from my sump was not working properly today.....when I disconnected and took it apart, the housing and impeller surrounding the magnet were totally covered in calcium deposit.....i soaked it all in vinegar for a few hours and scraped it clean and all is well again......when I took apart the unions to get to the pump, i noticed a lot of calcium buildup and what looks like very porous rock or mini feather duster casings (hard) in side the piping.....it has me wondering, after 7+ years of running the return and feed thru approx 20 ' of 1" PVC, how much "stuff" is in there?
Does anyone routinely do maintenance on this? change the PVC piping?

It's like pipe in your house, if you open it up and look inside the amount of space, say in 1 1/2" pipe is probably down to 1/2" from accumulation of stuff. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you have noticed that your flow is dramatically affected.

There are probably sponges, tube worms, maybe even aptasia in the pvc that are filtering the nutrients out of the water which is a good thing. IMHO
