PM Bullet 2 Skimmer ?'s - Pretty Sure I Know The Answer

Long story short, I ran a PM Bullet 2 skimmer with a Little Giant pump on a 125 SPS tank back in the day, worked great. That tank is long gone, but I still have most of the equipment from it, including this skimmer and pump.

I'm planning to set up a 75 gallon SPS display tank with another 75 gallon tank in the basement for a sump. Since I already have this skimmer, naturally I'm contemplating using it for this project. But... I figure its just too big for this system and I don't really want to attempt to drill the 75 gallon sump as would be necessary to use a proper pressure rated external pump.

I researched some internal pumps that may be up to the task of driving this skimmer, but I'm starting to think that I may be better off just buying a more appropriately sized skimmer for $300-$400 rather than spending half that on another pump. I'm worried I may never be able to get the Bullet to efficiently skim such a small system and I'll be running a high wattage pump to boot.

I guess I'm just turning to the community to get some thoughts on this. Am I missing a good pump option that is low wattage? I thought about trying a Jebao DCP pump but again, I think I may be best off with something else.

You're better off getting a good appropriate skimmer. Until your tank was fully stocked and well fed that skimmer would really be very oversized. Depending on how you plan on stocking and running the tank it may never work well on your system.

Great skimmer though!
