pod question

Well I attempted to have this answered in the other inverts forum but after a day and only 24 views and no answers... here goes again:

does anyone know if pods need light to reproduce? I am thinking of making a fuge that will not have any light reaching in it and am wondering if this will help grow pods.

After I hammer out the specific design I will post it in the DIY forum... but prior to starting build the fuge, I would like to make sure that pods will grow.

That's a very good question. I don't think they do, but I'm really not sure. All I can say is that I have a bunch of pods in the back sections of my Aquapod where there is no light, as well as down in areas of my sump with very little light. Are they reproducing there? I'm really not sure.

Nah. they don't need light.

I've got an area for macro taken care of... just wanted to make sure that the area i was building for pods would actually be useful for pods.

pods is a very vague categorization, amphipods reproduce optimally with a 16/8 hr photo period, copepods in minimal/no light.
