Pod tank

I have taken a 22 gallon used acrylic tank from The Reef Shop and turned it into a pod and algae tank. I want to add just a little other live in it to help the bio cycle kick in better. What fish could I add that would not eat a pod or the algae? I think I am asking a lot. :)

If you want to keep it strictly for pods to grow out, I wouldn't put anything in it. The tank will grow and gradually cycle as the population within the tank increases. I would feed phytoplankton on a regular basis though.

Oddly, the only fish I had that never seemed to eat from the rocks or predate was False Percs. I could be wrong, but those little guys seemed to think of me as the sole source of food.

My False Percs don't seem to eat pods either. I am feeding phyto. I guess I want tot have a fish in it to make sure the tank is healthy because until you have pods growing really well you won't see them. I did stick a small red mushroom in it that was attached to a rock that had feather caulerpa on it. The mushroom is doing great!

shrimp goby is a bad idea. I had a huge amount of pods till I put mine in. I see a few every once in a while, but the goby keeps them thinned out.

I wouldn't go with a goby either. I put one in my fuge to acclimate to the tank conditions before adding to the display. I can tell a difference in the pod population now. The goby is healthy tho. lol

Hi RB, do you plum this pod thank to your main tank or it is on it own?. If it is add on with your main system then i would not add anything. I would just put algea and light on reverse cycle.

This tank is not plumber to anything. It just sits there all by itself. I have put a lot of pods in the tank and I sort of wonder if the tank is healthy enough to keep them alive. The water, sand and rock all cycled for a year before i put it in this tank.
