Pod variety

Years ago I destroyed my pod population by dosing something. I wanted to start over and was looking at the Tisbe biminiensis. But as I recall, I used to have pods that were bigger and almost looked like potato bugs. Is that a different variety? I want to order pods from a clean source rather than someone system where I could get bad stuff

The word "pods" can mean copepods (mostly tiny, I think the tsibes fall in this category), amphipods (bigger, roly-poly looking things that you're probably remembering) and isopods (they can be huge). The first two are good, the third are definitely a mix of harmless, bad, and awful.

I think the tsibes you buy bottled are cultured and should be ok. I'll bet you can find amphipods from a good source, too.

The ones that look like tiny swimming commas are generally copepods, amphipods include things like Gammarus (scuds), and isopods will be the ones that genreally resemble woodlice/potato bugs.

Try the "algae barn". I recently poured in their '3000 pods' pack, and have been feeding their Phyto. I noticed today, my glass was crawling. My tank isn't two weeks old.
