Polarized sunglass

I bought a pair of polarized sunglass to check if a tank is tempered glass, I have yet to go to the store and look at the tank but I have been trying to look at other pieces of glass and I have no idea if there tempered or not. I was wondering if there was a special way I need to look at the glass? Do I need bright light behind it? Anyone share there own experiance

Go to a glass shop and ask to see some tempered glass. Put your glasses on and look at it.... the results will be pretty obvious. Just look at it from several angles it will be apparent when you see it.

Look at a cars windows they are tempered

Pop the lenses out of the glasses. Put one on either side of the glass. Rotate one of the lenses. If it's untempered, the transmitted light will fade from light to dark. If it's tempered, you'll see a black cross as you rotate the lens.

Disclaimer: I've heard this many times, but haven't tried it myself.

I went for a drive with my glasses on and they do work you can see a white criss-cross patteren but the light has to hit it the right way or else it doesn't work. I'll have to try the pop out lenses too

Just try to start drilling it... you will know very quickly if it's tempered or not
