Polip Extension

also im going to put a pic up of a thing that i think might be a flatworm in my fuge...... IM CRossing my fingers that they aren't

If you have good flow and no redbugs, I would guess its a CA/ALK problem. This assumes you have a hold on the basic nitrogen cycle of a reef tank ie ammonia, nitrates/nitrites

Looks like not a whole lot of coralline algae growth. Also has a general look of something amiss in the tank. Hard to describe, but you get an eye for it after a while. I would probably grab some new test kits and see where you're at. I like salifert, but there are some other good ones (seachem, etc.). I'd get kits for nitrate, phosphate and alkalinity and if your budget allows, calcium. You want something that will detect low levels of nitrate and phosphate (below 1 ppm nitrate and below 0.1 ppm phosphate).

Not always a bad thing. My corals have been growing like crazy for 6 months with no PE. I had a little at night. Everything has PE now since I have done the following things. Some things I have done: started mixing IO, Oceanic, and Tropic Marin salts at 1:1:1 (it's crazy, but my levels are more stable than ever), feed at exactly the same times every day (always PE before I feed, I think they know somehow), added a Phosban Reactor, and the biggie - treated for redbugs. I didn't have many, but I had a few. I'm no pro, but I had your same problem and now I don't. Good luck!

Looks like a flatworm, but not one affecting corals. Usually they are pretty well plastered to the coral's surface. Platyleminthes are very, very common in reef tanks.

I have the sme thing here. No P.E. I have a 90 gallon BB system. All levels are stable. It is 4 months old and I've only been adding small sps frags that are freesh water diped and inspected for any pests. So why isn't there much P.E.? I do see it at night on all frags. I put in a grounding rod just to be sure, but that wasn't it. I did notice something interesting the other day . I was removing my skimmer cup and a little skimate spilled in the sump and a few frags opend up. Not all just a few. So go figure.

I havn't even seen any in my main tank..... I just see lots of them scooting along the glass in my fuge. Are all flatworms harmfull to reefs?

also, would like to see your setup sometime... maybe I can help... I think I have red bugs but I have excellent PE all the time....

also have clown gobies....... don't know if they might be the problem[b/]

This could be the problem. I have read that keeping more than one gets 'em in the nesting mood and they nest in the Acros. Some gobies nip no matter what. Watch 'em.
