I have done a tone of reading on raising DKH. I have heard everything from 1DKH in 24 hours to 1-2 DKH all it once.

So I am not seeing a definitive answer.

I am talking about a SPS dominated tank.

So if so inclined be vote in the poll and lets see what the general consensus is.

Thanks!

That's a reasonable recommendation for a tank with stony corals. My soft coral tanks started the day around 7 dKH, were dose up to 10-11 dKH in the morning, and were back at 7 dKH the following morning. That went on for years, and all the corals grew well.

The reason the numbers are all over the place is that we are all guessing. We don't have enough data to give a definitive answer. That'd take a lot of testing over many species of coral. We don't even know all the parameters involved. People who stress their corals to improve coloration might have a lot more trouble with alkalinity dosing, for example.

Agreed, I keep try to keep it to 1 dkh per day. Really, you should be testing often enough that you would detect a small drop in alk before it becomes a big one.
