I voted

I use a Seclown 100 :)

I never used any other skimmer so I think this one works (i know no better), i get skimmate but not loads of it, and it does take some tinkering here and there which is a pita. Id go with a coralife 125 down the road.

I'v used a cpr bak-pak which was a waste of money. It constantly needed adjustment. I switched to the mce 600 deltec. The deltec is not for the weak stomachs. The nog is good sht.

I voted yes but don't use one in my aquapod.

I went from a skilter to a red sea prizm in my 55 which were both crap skimmers and now use an aqua C remora. It's ok for a H.O.B skimmer. I think the sump skimmers work better though.

In my 150 I have a red sea berlin classic with the turbo pump kit.
I got it many yrs ago when they were supposedly the "best".
I've always had trouble with it skimming and had to tinker alot with it until now when I finally glued the hose to it (it always got salt clogged in it) and I started adding sugar to that tank.
Now it's working pretty good.

Nowdays for about the same money I paid I could get an ASM G3 which is what I would do after seeing makos lol.

Kass, I forgot you had a Berlin. I think I threw it away last week(will double check over the weekend), but had a bag of spare parts for that I found in my "box-o-stuff". If it's still there, I'll give you a shout and get it to you.

ASM G3 with the gate valve mod. Will be recirculataing once I get a tank up and running for it!

I've got what I need to put the gate valve on my G4, all except the gate valve. I was sent one other than what I ordered, forgot, and now have to order one again.

Would be interested in the recirculating mod when you have it done. Putting a hole in my skimmer scares me without at least seeing what it should look like first :)

I use a Skilter 400 (so I obviously voted no).

Scooter, when you said the skimmer didn't work... I thought hey something I can fix. Turns out you can't polish a turd (one of my fav. sayings), as none of the Skilters really work. Awesome water pump though, can't wait to pull the filters and mod. it to a nano refuse.

turbofloater multi for me. Buying a euroreef in the future for my 120 and the multi will go back on my 55. IMO the skimmer is the most important piece of equipment you will buy followed by lighting.

I"ll make sure to let you know before I mod my ASM. I've got all the little odds and ends for the recirc mod and to also add a drain to the collection cup.

The 140 has a SeaQuest rated for 75 plus gallons... moded to draininto the sewer, not lookin back - and then a wet cup mod to rinse away the krud....it's the waste from my ro system... venturi style...

I've changed it so much it dosen't look like the box flap it came with...

The 30 soon to be 75 has a turbo floator on it, with the needle wheel.

And the 240 gallon wall has the Nautilus TE from Kent.

I'm fairly happy with all, but if I could plumb anything together, would love to replace them all with a diy monstrosity... you know, the mark of a true Jedi Master is to craft ones own skimmer...and have it be impressive.

Dang Scott those skilters are so darn noisy I think I'd get something else for the fuge. Unless you can stop the noise.
I havent used one for so many yrs I dont remember how it worked anymore lol.

I use a 5gal water bottle skimmer with 2 x genx 2400 needle wheel recirc pumps & maxijet 1200 for the feed pump.

Yes Kass, the skillter has a certain note to it. The air intake is by far the worst as far as noise goes. I have the air intake plugged and inserted into the tank to prevent any additional intermintant air leaks. I open the air intake up once a week for an hour or so to let the 'skimmer' do the thing that it is supposed to do. Other than that, it just humms along. The general consensis on the Nanotank board is that weekly 10% water changes are better than using a skimmer (in the smaller tanks).

Having had tropical fish in the past with air pumps going 24/7, this setup is much quieter (the fan in my Current USA Orbit light fixture is actually loader than the Skilter).
