Poly filters

Anyone ever use polyfilters. I have just tried some and they do seem to catch a large amount of organics in a short period of time.Does anyone use them all of the time??other than the exspense are they OK to run 24/7.?They do seem to make the skimmer output slow down when first installed.any other thoughts would be welcome

I throw one in a high flow area of the sump when it turns dark brown usually within two-three months it's done...every little bit helps and I have no problems with it effecting skimming, but I have almost 180 gals of total water volumn.

I put it in the filterbox i made that comes off my skimmer exit.
Whenever it changes color, i swap it out. That's one neat thing about it, you know what is in the water by what color it turns.
If turns blue its removing copper.Oh, and it claims to remove phosphate as well, not add it like carbon..
