Polyp ID and Anemone Question

Hi,

I've noticed a couple concerning things in my tank. Would be great to get some clarity before I change things. Could someone please identify these polyps? They don't really look like aiptasia, majano, or pseudocorynactis. They're currently white with each having 8 arms/tentacles. They retract almost completely at night so I can't see them. The red stuff behind isn't part of it it's a putty.

Second question is the anemone picture. The tentacles have started to get really round and I haven't seen that before. I'm worried they have too much/little light which is making the anemone need to expand too much. Is this health and will it go away?

Thanks

Rose Tip Bubble Anemone...looks perfectly normal, second pic is Green Star Polyps, a type of soft coral, they can spread rapidly if not cordoned off by loose rubble that you can then remove or move to another innocuous area.

Those polyps your seeing look like Green Star polyps. (Briareum sp.) These usually grow from an encrusting mat and can spread pretty fast if conditions are right. As far as the Anemone goes I don't think anybody knows exactly why the the tips inflate like that, but as far as I know it's nothing to worry about. As long as your parameters are within reason and the lighting is sufficient then what your seeing may or may not go away. Me personally I kind of like that look. GL.

Wow you guys are quick. Thanks, good to know it's all okay. One last question, at night my anemone kind of swallows itself in it's flesh? I'm not sure how to explain so see pic but I've heard of them contracting their tentacles at night but don't know if this is normal.

Again, perfectly normal, it has the ability to swell up with water.....why?...not sure if anyone really understands an anemone completely....I know I don't.

An nem will swell up to increase its surface area to absorb light it uses in the photosynthetic process which is 65-70% of the animals nourishment, the other % is what it can capture in the water. The animal will shrink when the light goes out as it stops the process and is a way for it to expel waste...
