polyps extension

Ok so I will try and take a crack at this. First off your Sps and clams are amazing with that out they way, I don't think it's fish problem as I don't see any nip marks and your clams are really wide open.

Second guess would be black bugs NOT red bugs but black bugs. These tiny little pest are really hard to see so take close up pictures with the flash on.

Third what is your alkalinty at durning the day vs night time? ULNS alkalinty play a big part for some reason and affect Sps.

I cant think of anything else that would affect this other then flow rates. Do you have different flow rates durning the day vs night?

Also if your going to feed your Sps try pappone or reef booster as I have tried them both and they are amazing.

Good morning as I made a water change today I removed a nice coral head that was not glued down yet brought it under the light and used a jewelers loop I could see really well. No black bugs here. The alkalinity runs between 8.5 and 9. I have some serious flow rate in the tank but not directly on the coral, I have a MP 40 and an MP 60 it circulates the war quite well but doesn't hit the coral. Tonight I start reef booster lets hope it does something. Thanks again for your help guys. Phil

I would try isolating the angel first, rather then stressing yourself out why you don't have any PE. Its probably the reason, and if you truly want PE (ok too not to have it as corals can still grow) you have try that first.
Fish dont nip when people are near the tank as they are hoping for food. Watch from a distance.

I believe that if a fish nips at corals for a while when lights are on, the coral will retract polyps when the lights come on even if the fish has stopped. Its like the fish trained the corals to retract polyps.
