Pom Pom Crab Safe?

Last night while looking under some of the rock work from the side of the tank i noticed what looked like a striped crap with what looked like a pice of food in its claw. With carefull sneeky investigation i found it looks like a PomPom crab. I got one as a hitchhiker months ago, one day found an empty shell (did not look molted) and figured it died. This has got to be the same crab.

So, Are they reef safe? Should i get rid of it? Just leave him alone. Its living in a small cave in a dead spot of my tank, and the area looks clean, so i figure its been eating all the crap in that area prity well.

Looks like a pompom crab? They are very obvious :spin2: they have pompoms
I have two, totally safe

Thats him!!! Or her!!!!! lol Ever since i spoted it, it wont come out all the way. Just dangles its "pom" On the sand bed.

Theres a dedicated thread on NR on pompoms..

I have one and its reef safe, doesnt bother anything... actually my favourite guy in the tank. Only comes out during feeding time but 'boxes' all the hermits/snails that gets close to him.

The anemones on the claws are live and can die... so its possible to have a pom pom without the anemones.

After I bought one, it captured, carried and ate a stomatella snail for a couple days. Then she laid and carried eggs for a few weeks. Must have been storing sperm from a male she encountered prior to being introduced into my tank. I wouldn't say its exactly reef safe... keep it well fed.

Mine comes out anytime i feed, so surprised yours doesnt come out more often (unless you have other livestock its scared of)

I have 2. Reef safe! However I basically haven't seen them since I put them in the tank :)

Only sometimes, early morning, before the lights are on, I see one doing its tai chi close to a hole where it hides,

If only they were out more often...
