Pom Pom crabs DO share pom poms

I'm mostly posting this because I had this question when I first got my pom pom crabs so hopefully this will come up in a search for others.

I bought two pom pom crabs but one of them lost its anenomes pretty quickly. The other is very reclusive so I rarely saw it, but did see it recently with both pom poms in an altercation with the pom-less crab (it won). A few days ago I saw a crab with one anenome and assumed the one with two had lost one, but then spotted the other under a rock with both anenomes. So it either gifted one to or lost one to the other crab, then split the remaining one.

For the past two days the crab with one anenome has been hanging out in the very front corner of the tank, in the open. It was strange to see it so exposed but it seemed pretty happy there. Came home today and there were two crabs, one with no anenomes trying to pry the single anenome from the corpse. And then we realized no, it had actually molted right there in the open with the lights at peak! It took it nearly 10 minutes to detach the anenome from its molt, then it waved it in triumph.

So there ya go - if your pom pom crab lost its anenomes but another crab still has them, there's hope. :)

And here's a crappy iPhone pic of the crab and his molt!
