ok so i just upgraded from a 20 g to a 29 gallon and the move was scary. my pom pom had sand over it and it shrunk. today i got a fluval full spectrum marine and reef light, which i dont know if it good enough. plus dead elegance is still alive somehow any pointers pic below

Welcome to reefkeeping, the most rewarding hobby you can imagine. Provided you get a grip on the basics.

You need to provide more information and a timeline of how/when you set things up and added livestock. That includes the previous tank before the upgrade.

What are your water test values?

Can you post a list of all the equipment on your tank plus any filter media you are using?

What type of water are you using for making saltwater and for top off?

The tank is relatively tall and the light does not look strong enough for keeping photosynthetic corals so low down.

The rock/sand looks very new. Are you sure that this tank has cycled?

Get rid of the air stone, it will just make a salty mess. Use powerheads for water movement instead.

There is good info in the stickies in the beginner's forum. Have you read them yet?

my system

So im using tap waterwater with prime conditioner with kent introvert, also reef advantage calcium powder, fluval sea trace elements, reef iodide sometimes fluval sea 35-45ions . My water level is ph 8.2-8.4 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrates 0 calcium was low I think about 250 but dose lightly I changed from a 20 gallon to a 29 gallon. Have a fluval full spectrum light 25w 25000k 312 less 1 tomato clown 1 red fairytale wrasse 1 emerald green crab 1 turbo and 3 other snails 2 Hawaiian hermit 4 red hermit .. salinity 1022 any help oh yea my tank is like 3 months added more sand last week about 8lbs live rock

ok, I'll try to give you some steps to follow here.

Quick questions:

• Did the tank cycle yet?
• Did you measure it through the cycle to be sure that it did?
• Did you have these corals on the other tank or did you just get them for this tank?

Things to do:

• Try to get away from tap water. (Even with prime, tap water can leave some trace elements behind that you don't want in your tank.)
• This is a small enough tank that you can use RODI water from the supermarket.
• Stop dosing at this point.(This tank is not stoked enough to need any of this yet. Water changes should be enough for now.)
• Do a couple of water changes to bring things to normal and level things up.
• The light looks ok to me for what you have, but you may need something more powerful down the road. Don't spend the money yet, lets get this tank to healthy levels.
• Give things time. In this hobby, nothing good happens fast.

Comments:

• Xenias are really hardy corals and kind of hard to get rid of, you will soon regret adding this thing to your tank. I know I did.
• The other coral looks it is dying and it could be because of all the crazy parameters in your tank or the fact that it has not properly cycled yet.

Please note that everything I say is just my personal experience. I am not an engineer or have a PhD in electronics or reef keeping like some of the smarter folks here.

Adding more live rock would help also. What you currently have are coral skeletons, not good quality live rock.

i would load up on live rock, good quality. Put some chromis in there to start creating a bio load and just do some water changes. Maintain it for a month or so to get everything going, then try again on corals. just me personally
