hello, i'm new in this forum, i come from italy, and i need an information :)
a friend wants to add in his tank the pomacentrus moluccensis, cause he says that this fish eats algaes very easly.
he's a nanoreef ( 40 lt ) so it is the only solution, cause he has a kind of caulerpa (verticillata) and anyone eat it,no elysia slug, no cypreas, no crabs....just a fish ....a babyhepatus but he would change with pomacentrus moluccensis for the hepatus healt.
Is a possible thing??he could eat caulerpa??this kind in specific??

ah forgot?? it's an aggressive fish?? or could disturb someone (corals, fishes, clams)???

It is a yellow damsel. It will be aggressive, like all damsels. Plus, I would not bet on it eating the calerpa, although it might. Tangs and Angels might eat it, but the tank (10 gallons) is way too small. In a tank that small, I would just remove the rock that has it on there and replace it with new rock.

thank you soo much for the answer....... it's not a good new 'cause this kind of caulerpa is so invasive and it's not possible remove the rock, cause all tank is full of it, the only fish is the hepatus that he has,but is so small 2cm and very soon will grow i think........

............the last chance is to try this damsel, and bet on it.

Sorry, I can't see the pics. Probably blocked.

What I would do with a tank that small, I would just empty the contents out, save anything that you can with regard to corals by fragging, and start over with clean sand and new rock. Maybe even wash the tank out with bleach to make sure the calerpa is gone. The hippo tang needs to get out of there soon anyway, that tank is far too small for one as you know.

Or, you can try the damsel and see if it helps. They are cheap and it can't hurt I suppose. But realize that if it does eat it and actually clears it all out, then you are left with a damsel which will not be a very nice community fish, especially in a tank that size. Adding any additional fish will be challenging with an estabilshed damsel in there.

If it were me, I would take the stuff out, bleach, and start over.
