Pond or lagoon?

Quick question...I have been looking, but I don't think I am going about it right. I noticed that as a sump setup many people have pongs or lagoon type deals in the basement. Can anyone point me in the right directions?

I am the owner of the above mentioned lagoon, I have changed my thought on the whole projet and it now is a sump with about 700lbs of live rock and 30 corals and clams....i couldn't help it. it has worked great. let me know if you want any specific help.
