Ponies in my 180?

I have read quite a few mixed reviews about flow necessities for these guys. I am curious if anyone has ever kept them in a 180 reef tank? Turn over is about 4-5x per hour (utilizing a 75g sump) with two tunze 6105's making my flow reach about 7000gph in total.

I'd like to keep a few of these guys and would love to have some additional life in a fairly fish sparse 180 or if I should just wait and build a dedicated tank for them?

Curious what some of you who keep ponies think, if I do decided to go with a dedicated tank, I'm leaning toward a 40g cube in the bedroom, though like I said ideally I could give a couple of these guys a nice big home.

Also curious if QT procedures are the same with ponies, and special precautions or adjustments I would need to make to a 40gB QT for them? I ask because currently it is bare with nothing but a few small pieces of 1" pvc.

It would take more than this thread to be able to educate you on the seahorse keeping hobby as the information is significantly different to most other fish you would keep. And no, most reef tanks are not suitable for keeping seahorses due to water temperatures, tank mates, and many unsuitable corals that most tanks have.
A 40g tank would be suitable for a pair of standard sized seahorses as the minimum recommended size is 29/30g for a pair of seahorses, with an additional 15g for each additional pair.
For some basics of seahorse keeping you can read the pieces linked at the BOTTOM of "My Thoughts on Seahorse Keeping".
Also, a good number of seahorse keepers are not fond of the term "pony" or "ponies" used for seahorses, and often don't reply to help someone using the terms.
