pop eye

My Map Angel has developed pop eye. It is very shy, even though it is by far the largest fish in tank, and stays in its cave most of the time. I believe the cause is from rubbing the side of the cave.
Removing it to a hospital tank for treatment is a last resort. 150g tank, 200 lbs live rock, many places to hide.
Can it be treated in the the main tank? If so with what?
For future reference, would you advise closing all caves big enough for it to hide in?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I had a similar problem with my Asfur angel. If you can get him to a hospital tank, use Maracyn. In a few days he'll be back to normal.

If you can't get him out of the tank, pulverize the Maracyn tablets with a hammer and mix it in with his food. That works, too.
Sometimes I disolve some of the Maracyn in a few drops of hot water and I soak flakes in it.

If he eats some for 4 or 5 days his bacterial infections will be cleared up.

Is it one eye or two? If it is just one eye its likely from trauma. I have had an achilles tang and a clown with this and no treatment was necessary. Give it a few days and the swelling should subside on its own.
