Ok well ti was mixed on if they are reef safe or not and the issue was more with the inverts with many. So he has been there for a few months an i noticed that my duncans and dendros have been closed for a couple of weeks so i tested, tested, water changed, tested, tested and everything is fine. So now i wondering if the puffer is nipping at these coral during the night....Hammers, SPS, Elegance and all others seem to be fine but the Duncans have never closed up like this before. Do they nip at LPS and cause them to close completely up?

They definitely can and do nip at anything in the tank, corals included.

A while back I had a puffer that would eat only small zoanthids (not the larger, paly sized zoas). He left everything else alone, but also didn't last too long in that tank.

Most fish sleep at night, the best way to tell is to pull up a chair and just watch the tank for a while.
