Porcelain Crab

I would not recommend the Anemone Porcelain Crab if you have BTA's, from experience. The other type I have no problem with.

Anemone Crab!!! That's what I'm looking for, not Porcelian Crab. Similar but not the same. Article says works well with Carpets!

To clear this up, there is the Porcelain Crab, and the Porcelain Anemone Crab. Two different types completely, but both contain the word "Porcelain".

The only point from experience I am making is that you do not want to match the Porcelain Anemone Crab with a BTA as it is not the correct nem and the crab will cause the BTA to be very unhappy.

If you look back at the pics I posted...can you tell which type I have?

I only ask because he lives inside of my bta's...and only seemed to bother them when they were little...today I don't see any difference in health/appearance between the nem's he sits in and the others in the tank (9 or more I think)

You have the Porcelain Anemone Crab, for sure.

I've have several over the years. As noted there is a couple different types... There's the Porcelain Anemone Crab from Indonesia and there's the Porcelain Crab from the Caribbean. The one from Indo is the one you're gonna want as it'll most likely be more active in your system. The one from the Caribbean can be cool too but doesn't have the same tendencies as the indo crab.

N Oshimai the anemone crab(looks like a crab but is in fact a lobster) is verry peacefull and resistant. They dont necesarely need an anemone.I ve kept one for a few years without anemone and he got just fine. This is the only crab that will stay in the front of your display and wont moove from there for a few days. They dont hide like the otther crabs, they stay in the open right in front of the display if you put them there. Also bear in mind that this is a filter feeder and if you plan to keep one you should fed the fish food in small bits so it can flow through all the aquarium and the crab will get it from the water. This was mein.I released it on the GSP right in front of the tank and didnt moved from there for a few months.

Mine decided that the small fish in my tank were an easy meal while they slept, so off to the sump he went.
