Porites anyone?

Don't see Porites discussed very often. I picked up this coral a few weeks ago. It did not look very happy at the LFS, but has since gained uniform color and polyps are opening more and more. I apologize in advance for my photography. Please share your Porites photos and knowledge

I used to have a yellow Porites cylindrica. This particular sps coral is quite undemanding, but it requires strong light and strong random flow. Yellow coloration is particularly difficult to maintain. It grows fast providing that the aforementioned light and flow requirements are met. Attached are some past photos. I still have some encrusted bits on a rock, but it is dormant at the moment as it is not receiving much light.

Yes that red/green & yellow look really nice. The green one is not bad either. I've only seen them in an underwhelming bluish grey.

I never see any for sale locally or on line but I haven't looked that hard. Yellow is a really hard color to get in the stony corals.

Are they easy to keep?

I have two peices that came from the same colony, One I put up really high started to develop orangish polyps, where as the one I placed on the bottom is just well... brown.
Ill probably end up removing them down the road as they are the first junk/ tester frags I added after I completely "reset/ tore down" the system due to losing the battle against AEFW last spring.

I got lucky when I bought mine from my LFS.. Have not seen any for sale since. I don't feel they are hard to keep.. I think the same as any stony coral.

I have a darth maul porite that requires super low light... grows super slow. then i got a cherry coral morph of the darth maul porite (more brown) and it takes extremely high light. And grows like weed.

They are easy coral. Set and forget.. but very different

I have a brownish yellow porite that is full of Christmas tree worms. It's the first coral to go in my new tank. I haven't seen the polyps come out yet at all. Been about a week. How quickly should I see them come out, is it normal for them to be like this? I have RW-15 pumps in my tank for flow. I hear everyone talking about how powerful these pumps are, I just don't see it. I see the little wave on the surface but the flow in the tank doesn't look all that strong to me.

So my porites were coming out nicely for about 2 months then in the last week they have not come out at all. Any help? Is this a normal phase with them? Everything else in the tank is doing great. My Acro is doing well too, would like to see more polyp extension there too but is what it is I guess. Should I be jacking up my lighting? I am using 2 AP700 maxed right now at 66%.
