I was given a frag of Porites only I didn't know what I had. I thought it was some kind of encrusting monitpora with some kind of worm pest in the center of it. I didn't see it before it was bagged up for me so I wasn't aware it was a christmas tree worm. Stupid me, through my usual acclimation/drip process cut the worm out of the frag in what I thought was pest prevention. While doing this I noticed multiple tiny worms inside the coral. They looked like bristle worms but only about a 1/2" long and no thicker than dental floss. I found out later that what I have is frag of orange polyp purple porites. Can anyone tell me if I've ruined this coral and if the christmas tree worms will come back?
