Fellow Reefers,

I think I may have a problem. I have been reefing for about 9 months. I have the 13 gallon EVO. I recently started spotting what looked to be some form of anenome. At first I spotted one or two but now I have 15 or more. HELP!!!

Please see attached photo. Hopefully it attaches right.

The shape is very aiptasia like, but every aiptasia I've ever has been a translucent tan or light brown and never had any blue or purple speckles. I hope somebody else can help more with a solid ID.

How big are the faces of those anemones not accounting for the tentacles? They look kind of big, maybe the size of a quarter? How long have they been growing?

Looks like Aiptasia to me, YES!!
Have you considered getting an Aiptasia Eating Filefish? I got one when I had a problem with the pest and he made short work of mine.
It might be worthwile to investigate getting a Copperband Butterfly too, or ordering some Berghia Nudibranchs.
Just my .02!!

Yep.. Aiptasia.. I've had some of those speckled variety before..

You can mix up a pickling lime/water kalk paste and slowly inject it into mouth/at them with a syringe (without needle)..

I bought peppermint shrimps and they took care of them. Its not a one day solution. You will see less and less with the progression of days/weeks.
