A bristletooth tang of mine has displayed some odd features over the last week or so.
About 1 week ago, I noticed a small white line across the body of the tang. I assumed it cut itself, or maybe another fish managed to hurt the tang. It soon disappeared.
Fast forward to this week, yesterday another white line appears, this time looking worse than the last. This concerned me as I figured he was fighting with another tang that was recently added. However, I've never watched either of those two fight.
I wake up this morning and the white line is now a series of small white spots. Varying sizes and not a terribly bright white. Might even be able to argue them being light gray or light green. I went home for lunch to find them in different areas than before, or that's what it appears to be.
Other odd things. The yellow tang (newly added) and the bristletooth tang will sometimes rub their side against a rock. I've also watched my sixline do this, but very rare. I thought for sure this was going to be Ich, but this has been going on for days (maybe over a week) with no visible signs. The fish continues to eat very well. I cannot judge the breathing as I'm not sure what the norm is.
I'm prepare to pull all my fish out if need be to remedy these problems, but before I start pulling out 200+lbs of live rock and setting up multiple QT tanks, I'd like to be sure I have an issue here that needs to be treated, or can be treated.
