possible fish list...suggestions appreciated

I am going to try to talk my landlord (bother-in-law) into letting me get a slightly larger aquarium. The max gallonage for the apartments is 40g. I was going to get an Elos Midi which is 36g (sold as complete system only) but I wanted a custom sump with an ATS so I switched to the the Elos Concept 80 (coming out soon) which will be 40g and is the aquarium only. I will be having Inland Aquatics build a custom sump with an ATS/skimmer combo. Anyhoo, either of these tanks were all fine with my brother-in-law. I'm hoping I can talk him into letting me get the Elos 70 which is 55g. I have a stocking list already for the 40g but I was going to change it up a bit if I can get the Elos 70.

Definite Fish (all these were also going in the 40g)
- pink skunk clown
- citron goby
- barnacle blenny

Likely Fish
- peppermint hogfish (in place of the swissguard basslet which I had listed for 40g tank). The hogfish is my brother-in-law's. They are moving early next year so he is going to have to break his tank down and will be upgradeing. The fish would be free to me :) And I really like it. And he's been a model citizen in their tank. They currently have it in a 50g tank.

Possible Fish:
- zebra barred goby X3
- yellow assesor basslet (not sure it will get along with hogfish though)
- dwarf angel

If I chose the 3 barred gobies, I won't add anything else past them. Does anyone have any experience with these fish? Did you like them? Are they timid? Or are they out alot and swimming around?

I really like the yellow assessor but hogfish are listed as cautionary with basslets so iffy about adding a basslet. It's so purty though. However, I like the hogfish more and it will be free so it will win over the basslet if it comes down to choosing between them.

I may add a dwarf angel if I don't chose one of the other fish. I am iffy about this one too. Will depend on how courageous I am LOL

Does anyone else have suggestions about how to tweak my list. The skunk clown in all likely-hood will be the last fish added as I plan to add it along with an anemone but the tank has to be running well for a good period of time before I will add an anemone.

I cant attest as to whether or not the Hogfish will go after the Assessor but I will say with all certainty that you wont see the Assessors if they feel threatened.
I had 2 in a 65 gal with other peacefull tankmates and they stayed out most all of the time. I put a flasher wrasse from my 210 in there for some R&R and that was enough to put the Assessors into hiding constantly until the Wrasse was removed.
If the Assessors are happy and out in the open they really are some great fish. Excellent color and I have never ever witnessed any aggression from them towards other tankmates. Perfect fish for a smaller sized peacefull fish/reef community or even in a larger tank as mine now reside in my 210. Just be sure and match tankmates accordingly.

hmmm...then I guess the assessor is a no-go then. As I will be having a skunk clown and a hogfish. Thanks for the tip!
