Possible Mantis/pistol shrimp???

I heard this popping coming from my new tank (still in cycle), and at first I thought it was water making contact with electricity. I quickly unplugged my power strips and inspected ever outlet/chord/piece of equiptment. I did not see anything wrong and it everything was bone dry. I heard the sound again.. Pop, pop, pop. I checked everything out again, all was fine. So the past couple of days, about an hour after lights out, I here this popping noise, 3 distinct pops (sometimes 6) coming from my sump area. The onlything I put in the sump is a bag of macroalgae from my LFS. Would a mantis usually hitch hike in clump of racemosa/cheato? I only added 2 new pieces of liverock to this tank (rest was old) and it is not in the sump, it is in the display. I have no other idea what this could be, but does it sound like a typical mantis/pistol?

Does the clicking happen at night? If so, then it's a pistol shrimp. Mantis shrimp retire to their burrow/cavity and seal off the entrance with a piece of rock or shell when they sleep at night.

well i have a pistol shrimp in my 10 gallon nano. he makes those poping noises all day. i dont know about night time because im sleeping.... i have also had mantis and the poping noise is pritty much the same. i have herd them both during the day and my mantis at night. imsure the pistol does it at night as well but havent herd it. you just need to get in there and see if you can find it.

It is coming from my refuge when the light goes out. The only thing in there is macroalgae and I cannot find a shrimp. I guess he is either green or really small.
