Possible Old Castle Sand buy

I repeat HOME DEPOT SUCKS!!! After calling them and they telling me they had 510 bags I drove there to find NOTHING!!

That seems to me to be ridiculous that they are missing about 2000.00 in inventory.

Must be me though.

Andy,

I bet they had 510 bags of Durascape white playsand though!

The HD I checked out at lunchtime had a sign that said Oldcastle Tropical Playsand on a skid of Durascape White Playsand. The guy there said Durascape owns OldCastle now. They are probably listing Durascape as a substitute in their inventory system and treating them the same.

I just read another thread that durascape passes the viniger test. You should try it out and make sure before you use it though.

Just tried a google of "old castle" and durascape. After a very brief perusal, this might be what we are all looking for!

Look at the reply I got from Old Castle Products:

The play sand from the Caribbean was called "Tropical Play Sand". It is a natural sand called Aragonite which is only found in the Caribbean. However, the supply of this material played out and we therefore no longer offer it as a product. We do offer other natural sands in Home Depot and Lowes. They carry both silica play sand and limestone play sand. The limestone play sand is generally white. Both are suitable for sand boxes. The limestone play sand is softer and may leave a white dust residue on the children hands and clothes. This material is calcium carbonate similiar to Aragonite in chemical make up.

Thanks for your business and inquiry.

Would the Limestone sand be ok in a tank? And has any check out
a lowes for sand? Also, wouldn't vinegar make the limestone sand fizz, like aragonite sand?

I called the West Long Branch store and they said 510 bags. I asked the guy to verify it, and he said that was the stuff they had. I am going to go there at lunch and see if I can get some. He said it is clearance item and the is 3.49 a bag.

i called there today and he said he had a bunch of "tropical play sand" but it has no name brand on it anywhere. anyone want to check it out for me : ) ?
