Possible problem with New CS80

I just set this up 2 days ago. It is sitting in my sump in about 10 inches of water. I have the riser tube has high as possible and the bubble level in the skimmer is barely to the fitting where you disconnect the collection cup. I cannot get it any higher. Is it possible there is something wrong with the pump and it is not pumping enough water?

Thanks
Ray

Hi Ray,

It sounds likle it is still breaking in, no worries at all! Give it a few more days and you should start to see the foam build up and come higher up in the chamber.

If you have any questions just let us know!

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy,

I had never had this issue with my ASM skimmers, I was always able to adjust the height with the tube so I thought something was wrong.

Jeremy,

If the picture below is my skimmer, the waterline/bubble line in the skimmer is at the level of the red line.

Is there anything obstructing the air intake? Dip the rubber tube into some warm RO water in case there's anything stuck in the tube. Are you getting lots of bubbles?

Hi Ray,

I still think you're fine. As long as the air tube is not obstructed, nothing should be wrong at all. I would still give it a few more days to break in and start producing foam.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I will try that. It doesn't seem like there are that many bubbles compared to what I am used to in my ASM G3/G4. I will check it again tonight.

One thing I noticed is that if I put my finger near the intake tube for the pump I can barely feel any suction.

My Euroreef did the same thing. Every now and then it will still go kinda low. I would give it a week before you worry. mine took a week on my 54 to get good skimmate, although in my 125 my ASM G-3 only took a few days. They both run like champs though so I wouldn't worry

Man my EuroCS80 did the same thing. Being out of the hobby for a couple of years I started posting on the then Euro Reef sponsor forum, with no answers! But Jason & Jeremy from PA came through and cooled me down. Its just the break in period. Did you rinse the interior of the unit before starting it? I didn't and it took awhile for good foaming to start. Hang in there with it. I love mine!

Yeah no problem. When I read the manual that came with it, I thought it was just a "suggestion". It's what I got for not reading the manual through.

"Manual's? We don't need no stinkin' manuals!"
