I bought a big white anemone on friday 3/21/12. I sadly do not have a picture of when he was firts put in the tank, but I asure you he was beautiful!

So here is my problem. This anemone and the other were comepletely fine until this morning when I came to check on them and the white one doesnt look right. He was uprooted, on his side, balled up and has these odd tiny white anemome looking things near the foot. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Everyone else in the tank is fine and they even ate last night.

This is the anemone

looks like a tear in the foot which isnt good. Also no corals or anemones should be white. ( aside from a condy ) a white anemone is usually bleached due to lighting or stress. You have a long tentacle anemone btw. Should also wait a couple weeks for the anemone to settle in before attempting to feed.

1.028 salenity is also high but doughtful it has anything to due with the tear in the foot.

underside of him, Also the fish store was a little rough when they went to put it in the bag to take home.

Im not sure what type it is. The other i know is a bubble tip

they marked this one as a white anemone

Oh man I just saw that picture. That nem is done, the foot was torn and that's it's insides coming out. :(

On another note I'm not sure you're tank is ready for another one for at least a few more months. It seems it's only been set up for 1 month?

The tank was bought on 2-14-14 and had been running for 15 years, according to the guy. But I completely reset the tank and did all new things. The other anemone is completely happy, and eating and all the other fish are happy. We have only lost one fish and thats because the LFS got a bad batch.

The light has 4 bulbs in it, and has 3 setting. one is really bright and one is not as bring and the last is the moon light. It is all set on timers and the true lights are only on for 8 hours and then the moon is on for i think another hour or two.

As far as the anemone, can anyone explain what happened? I did notice that when the LFS (wet pets) went to get it they were using their hands and were not as gentle as they were with the other. And we did everything right before putting him in the tank. He seemed fine and even accepted food last night and then this morning i find him like that. I'm just lost at when this happened because up until this happened it was open and swaying and everything else...

no, the male that i bought it from claimed that he had that exact tank running for 15 years. but i have never seen any saltwater tank look that bad nor be on rocks as the bedding and there be fake rocks in there.

So on 2-16-14 i restarted the tank. there is live sand, live rocks, a cleaner shrimp, a sally lightfoot crab, and a few hermits, along with a yellow tang, a 6 line, and a snowflake eel. There was two clowns but like i said the LFS got a bad batch.

The tank was started on the 16th and was allowed to run and all that till the beginning of this month, and thats when the fish and all were added. only things added during February was the crabs and shrimp.

All have survived but the clowns, which i was really sad about, but happy to know that it wasnt me. the LFS even tested our water and said the only thing that they see is the salt was a little high but no where near threatening.

LTA torn foot is a near impossible to heal I hear. The lfs must of torn the foot when they were taking it out to bag it for you. Anyway that's not a tear, that thing is gutted.

Ok so that guy was $75 and they do not do refunds. The only thing they will do is accept donations. so should i take him back? or what should i do
