Possible to run JBJ 28g pro without stand or mess?

I'm thinking of getting the JBJ 28g Pro for my bedroom desk. Unfortunately, if it is not completely self-contained, low mess and able to run on my desk (strong laminated wood) it's a dealbreaker. After going through the forums i've noticed that most users have the stands and various external devices, is it possible to do without these?

Thanks in advance!

I run my 29 gallon bio cube on my desk in my office with no mess and no external bits (just a power strip) but you have to do water changes, so if you make a mess is up to you really.

My brother has his on his desk. Tops of manually. No fancy gadgets. It's the tank, power strip for the stock items and a cord for the extra power head he runs. He keeps soft and lps corals and has had good luck with it and the KISS (Keep it simple ----) method.

Hope that helps.

Ok great thanks, I think I'm going to get it.

My LFS has three different versions and I can't decide which to get. LED Pro - LED intermediate - CF Quad. The saleswoman said I really do not need the extra wattage of the pro, but I like having the option for blue actinic lights which only the pro has (i believe). Doubt I would ever want SPS because they're so finicky, would the CF Quad or Intermediate give me enough light for LPS and zoas? Also, is there any way to get a nice blueish 20k spectrum with either of the cheaper models?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't see why not as long as you take into consideration the weight of the tank and stuff inside it.
