post a pic of your clownfish

the first of the three pics i posted are a pair of picassos. the one of the top, was acquired about 6 months ago and the one on the bottom , more recently. i took the pic so others can see the amazing diff food can make and the potential color/pattern dev. of the picasso.

there patterns are ok for picassos. ive seen nicer looking picassos out there. but at this time. im not sure which is harder to get, onyx or picassos lol

Poseing for the picture!

safir, beautiful.

are they are breeding pair?

angels, you should get your clown an anemone :) or atleast a partner.

clowns are so much more interesting when they are in pairs and hosting.

embryo - at this time I am not even positive they are male/female.. here is the whole story:

the weekend after thatfishplace's annual sale I stopped by, actually looking fo a few true percs, in each of their invert tanks they had a GSM - I LOVE GSM so i had to have a pair, I knew the risks of keeping them singularly, but they could not have been there more than a week (almost everything was new since the annual sale, and i had been there and they were not in those tanks...) so i figured the chances of them having turned female were minimal. picked these two up (best/most interesting looking two) brought them home, acclimated them - the misbarred one started hounding the other one (the misbar is named coral, the other sharkbait, for future reference - the wife is a nemo fan :) makes it easy to spend money on the tank "you know, like in nemo") nipping at it's fin a lot - based upon this we determined coral was likely a female, and sharkbait a male (hence the names) for his own saftey, i put sharkbait in a breeder net in the tank for a few days for his own saftey, until she seemed to caml down and settle in, she still nipped at him occasionally after we released him, but not excessively. fast forward to sunday when that picture was taken - what you see is him doing the "submissive" shimmy for her, first time i'd seen him do it, and she seems to be much more tolerant of him recently.

so, here's to hoping for the future, maybe they will breed someday.

this of course raises a quetion - i haven't read a lot on clown breeding, as i know it's not in my immediate future, but will they breed without a host anemone? I have the TBS package, so I have a condy, but i know that this is nt commonly a host anemone... I would like a BTA someday, but i know that our tank is not mature enough yet, and fear that it may be too small anyway for both to live happily. I did see her in one of our xenia once, but have not since.

definetly can breed w/o anemone.

sometimes you have to take a risk for a reward :)

im not as familar with personalities of maroons so maybe other maroon owners will post there thoughts.

either way, congrats. i was at thatfishplaces tent sale also :)

Alright i got another clown so my one clown isnt lonley anymore.. i also added another shrimp so now theres 2. The clowns are getting along great

Dreamsyicle is the female the bigger one and the smaller one is sharkbate

angels awesome ! see same fish in same hole :) hehe

good size dif.

happy to see you bought it a partner :)

you will love spending time looking at there behavior with each other. i can never raise just one clown in a tank anymore.

Gorgeous clowns everyone, wow!
Here are a couple pictures I snapped tonight of my saddlebacks. They were the same size when I bought them, it's quite amazing to me how much the female has grown in just a couple months! They're in their own FOWLR and seem happy as can be and they've calmed WAY down since I removed them from the 65g; I guess they've figured out there's no competition for territory here so they can relax a bit :)
