Well it's a sad day around my house.....

At the start of the heavy winds, the power went out in my house in Awase..... "oh the power never goes out offbase they say"... so I thought, it should be coming back soon.... 5 hours later I start to panic.... And a day later ALL my fish are belly up.....

I'm so ****ed... I was really attached to my fish, I hand fed them every single day bla bla bla..... crap.

Aw, man... that sucks. I looked around for a battery powered air pump incase i lost power, but couldnt find one. they've saved my butt plenty of times in the past. I will probably order a few online soon, just incase we get another storm.

man.. that sucks teto.. sounds like your right down the street from me too. I have a generator downstairs you could have borrowed unless my power went out. Im also taking care for vests tank while hes in the states.. was really worried about his power going out.

Sorry about your loss. Once you have had the same fish for a long time they become family members.

Did the power go out on base as well?

I live on Kadena, Didnt lose power at all, not even a flicker. hell the cable tv and internet stayed on almost entirely, except for a few minutes here and there when the storm was at its worst.

Thank god for that...

I lost power too...for about 30 hours....I am already looking into gettting a heavy duty generator and wiring it to kick min when it senses local power loss. I live out in town too. I spent the last 3 days cleaning up and we're still not completely done.

I think the large volume of water kept me just above water (pardon the pun) but no fish losses. Finally lost a piece of acropora that was starting to bleach though....sigh.

Sango-chu.. hope your good with wireing.. that sounds like job right there. we have that at work.. huge UPS and giant generators that kick on when we lose commercial power. not something that I would want to mess with. Its to easy to just have a small genny set up and ready to go, then just go start it if something happens.

You are so right, but I have no one to turn the ting on if I am away; which I am often. I need something to been as automatic as possible, possibily in the future though...for now, I'll have to take your advise and do the portable genny thingy. It's just that the fish room is wired into the house matrix and I'll have to do some major rearranging of wire line in order to connect the "fish room" and the frig (maybe the water heater) to the power source.... This must be the dark side of reefin'

i live in the awase area and lost power (12 hrs) along with most of my fish and crabs, too. only the very small guys survived. : (

would strongly recomend getting a small generator.. they sell them at most of the DIY stores off base for around $4-500. friggen things are loud as hell though.. just so you know.

ahhh think that might be what I have.. not sure. I need to dig it out and run it for a bit.. lol been well over a year since ive ran it.
