I did the DIY Lumenarcs likes Runningstix's using hammertone from Sunlight Supply. They only sell the hammertone in packages of four 2x4 sheets. After splitting the project with another guy it came out to less than $30/reflector. These are the best reflectors I've ever owned...I won't be going back to a cheapo design ever again.

Very nice job.

I went to sunlights site and could not find the material. Could you post a link?

I thought I would add that I replaced the stock halogens with 150w MH's. I also upgraded the stock reflectors. Here are some pics of the DIY reflectors.

Here is the fixture with one reflector replaced, you can visually see the improvement.

It is a regent 300w twin halogen shoplight. I picked up a couple in the clearance rack at Lowe's, but it was a couple years ago. I have seen them still on some online sites for about $25.

I have an extensive build thread on Nano-Reef but I cant post a link.

Where did you get your reflective metal? I see that home depot gets $100 for the skylight tube, which seems like alot of money.
thanks
Jeff

The reflector material I purchased from a private seller on ebay years ago. He called it super bright parabolic reflector material.
It is the brightest material I have personaly ever seen. I bought 12 square feet and have used it for numberous projects.

Here is a link to the shoplight. http://www.hechinger.com/hardware/tools/73735701-regent-300-watt-halogen-shoplight-hsl300.html

Keep in mind that the lamp holders would need to be replaced if anything higher than a 70w HQI is used.

it is also known as spectral aluminum... with the solartube... did you look at the extension tubes... i got one like 2 months ago for like $25....

actually i just googled it and it says that they discontinued it...

this site sells spectral aluminum... it is about the same price and is actually a little stiffer... if they send it flat instead of in a roll it should be easier to work with too...
