Post your Oregon torts!

Hey Travis, thanks for the ping. I haven't had time to crusie the forums lately due to work.

Ahhh, another thread on the Oregon Blue tort. Seems to have one every quarter or so, but glad to hear this is one coral that is popular.

IME, the Tort hold its color well under constant condition (water parameter and lighting). Any one change and the tort will change with it. Sometimes not as drastic, but may loose some intensity but quickly regain its color. I keep mine under a 400W MH and medium flow.

Like Steve mentioned, the tort does grow thick and branch out. As I have noticed, it's more of a medium grower than a fast grower like a millipora. And not as slow as Bali deep water corals. But it is still my favorite.

This is the most current picture I have. Sorry it's not in a better environment, but I'm working on it. "Yes Steve, water will be in the tank next month. ". If you look in the white circle, that is the Cali Tort from ORA.

Thanks guys. Like Steve, I purchased my 1" frag from Travis about 5 years ago. Sang, yours will be as large as mine in no time.

Here is the requested Upscales Tort...actually they call it "Super Blue Acropora," but its the only one on their website that it could be, none of their stuff seems to be for sale though cuase the prices are all set at 0.
I guess I should have put myself on the waitlist before I posted all these huh? Oh well, I'll get one sooner or later (hint hint anyone) () : )

They frag it every other month or so i think. When i picked mine up the other weekend, he had about 6 frags. FWIW

Yeah that is what Travis told me is that his colony is big enough to be able to get between 4 to 6 frags every other month and not seem to slow its expansion by much.

I Should have though it was so cute and encrusting well around the base and it's just goes in my 20L nano

Oh, well if its going into a nano, I agree it is cute, and for a nano that will not get lost, compared to a normal display tank.

Mine has shown some growth in the 3 months I have had it, but switching tanks has made it lose some of the color, but its coloring back up now.

I do fill it encrust good.

I just bought a bright shinny yellow tort. Which kind are they? I havent put it in my tank yet,
I need some help with my setup, I get to many micro bubbles in my tank is that gonna be a prooblem?
Right now my tempurture swing (flux) is 81.7 82.4 is that gonna be a problem? I think the tank its in right now is somewhere around 80 degrres is the change gonna be a problem? my tank has only been set up for a week, ?problem?.
help please

I think the yellow torts are usually austeras. I have a nice colony which has blue polyps. Do you have a pic of yours?

I don't have the internet. I use this site from my school libary. Maybe I could ask my friend to bring his rogers cable modem over to my house and post you a pic. I have not seen the polyps on that coral

Bugger, just breath in and relax, all that worry can erode any confidence you have.

The temp fluxes of that small should not be a problem, but make sure the other parameters of the water are not to far apart.

The micro bubble in the long run will become a problem, so you need to take care of that.

I agree, your temp swing is no problem at all. If there are a lot of bubbles, they tend to irritate acros and make them slime. If you dont see any slime, then I wouldnt worry about it. A few small bubbles shouldn't affect your tank at all.
