Post your Oregon torts!

I don't have endlessly deep pockets like the rest of you!:D
I just finished re-modeling the kitchen so $$$ is tight.

I know not a good excuse but it is the truth. I guess I'll have to break down and go get one. I'll let you know.:( :(

Michael, you know he ships and the way gas is going that might be cheaper.

Actually I found Upscales price quite reasonable compared to most other hobbiest desired price, so go to the source and get it there.

And you will never hear me looking down on you for you don't have the money, heck I have been wanting some corals since I first started looking into this hobby, but don't have any for I can't even afford a frag of one yet.

what color are the polyps on the O. Torts? I have two very small, very blue frags with greenish colored polyps but blue body. Could this be the real thing or "No Way" an O. Tort never has blue poylps.
Just wondering what I have. They were sold to me as blue torts.

In the vast majority of cases, AFAIK, the polyps are blue. I've had mine go turquoise at the base on occasions though. But, in general I would say they should be blue.

Thanks Travis. . . I guess I just have a couple of nice blue frags. That's not stopping me though, I'm going to call them Chicago Blue Torts! Everyone will be jawing for them in a couple of years! I'll introduce them as ORP enhancers!

Just wanted to say, the pics are unbelievable. Everyone should be happy about the unbelievable acros shown.

I'm not sure, they were sold to me as blue torts and thats what they look like. It's going to take a year before I can figure it out. Doesn't help that I only run T5 so I seem to be morphing colors on all my SPS.

I wanted to add one thing. They weren't sold to me as Oregon or Cali Torts, just blue torts. I liked them and I bought them and I'm very happy with them. Like I said, they are Chicago Blue Torts! The very rare and half retarded cousin of the more famous Oregon and Cali Tort! Cubs Blue, through and through. Allright, I'm changing my torts name to Cubs Blue Tort!
$400.00 a 1" frag coming soon in 2008!

Most recent shot of my ORA tort. Grown from a 3/4" frag, I've had it a little more than a year.

Wow 64IVY, that is some enviable growth on that guy! I bet you don't frag it every month do ya ;)
Nice website too. After looking at that the only thing left to ask would be where you have the tort your tank. I won't be the one to do it though since I don't have one () : )

cheers,

Since day one it has been up very high (approx 12" below my 250W 10K/400W radium combinations) and in very high chaotic water flow. The only color change I've noticed is a very slight reduction of the greenish undertones it had in its 'youth' :) .

Hehe thanks, I'm sure lots of people luckier than I really appriciate it (well, me too) ;)..still browsing your exellent site..you code it yourself?

Cheers,

Heck no, my computer literacy ends at about the point these posts go through. My webguy is responsible for everything else...including the fact that the site is now running some 8 months behind :mad2: . Hopefully, we'll be catching up soon.

Hey maximus just got me an oregon from you're source man and got to say the pics you took of it don't do it justice man without a doubt it's the oregon beautiful piece still haven't mounted it did you use super glue how high up did you mount it by the way? And how much flow? The polyps on it are turqoise, I have it pretty low about 16 inches away from a 250 watt 20k Radium driven with an hqi ballast.

Glad to hear you like it. Yes, I used superglue to mount the frags. I keep the frags high up, probably 5-6 inches from the top of the water line. My lights are about 6-7 in above the water. I know they can take a lot of light, thus mounting high would be fine. I'd say it has medium flow. Isn't it awesome?:)

Your placement sounds fine. However, you may be able to color it up a little more intensely if you move it up higher. BTW, we do expect a picture.:D
