Good Lord!!!! It's a joke! In case you haven't noticed, we kid each other around here.. We are supposed to be among other things here, friends. Why would you take a response to your post so personal? Now, implying that the CVRC is a joke on the other hand after personally witnessing what it has taken to get it this far with basically the same core group, that, I, and I am sure a lot of others, do take personally. It is amazing to me how difficult it is to have an organization of like minded people get together every so often and share experiences and advice. Again, this group has been through a lot and we have stuck together to help each other and those new to the hobby, (you were once there yourself) and frankly I agree with Phil.. no one is keeping you here, if you can do better, start your own club.. Not trying to be a jerk, but I have been here since day one with this organization and I do take it personal...
Thank you Chris I couldn't have said it any better as another one that's beeen around since day one.

We are a group of reef keeping enthusiasts gathered together for the purpose of education and propagation of our corals to provide a steady healthy supply of creatures for new hobbyists in our area.
We, at least the "founders", are also for sustainable collection and propagation not really into advertising our newest latest "LE" find. Hence the lack of glamor shots.
When this drama started last night I was bringing Jim up to speed on the current status of a new, previously uncollected area. 100% net caught sustainable fish, some never documented before, and fields of coral in New Guinea. Very exciting to some of us and frankly given the state of our hobby should be exciting to all of us. BTW I posted the link to New Guinea opening soon on our joke of a CVRC board in March. What kills me is that thread has 16 views and 1 response yet it should be what we should all endeavor to support as "salty people".

btw cute puppy.

Good to see some people have positive opinion about this group or at least a protective one even though you completely missed the point and misquoted me... I guess sometimes it is hard to tell a joke from derision... anyway, the bottomless pit of a fish is an engineer goby given to me. He's dog tame and will eat krill from your hand. He's a good sand stirrer too, which works for me as I added the sand after the bottom layer of live rock. Here's an old shot of him:

BTW Ron your quote: "please be respectable of others opinions and feeling(s), what you see as a joke may have adverse reactions in others," was my point... you just turned it around on me... maybe when I said,"posting crap like mud puddles or statements like Mary's sure doesn't do anything to promote positive interaction between current members of the CVRC or potential new ones. It just makes this forum (and the CVRC) look like a joke," was a poor choice of words (BTW, I didn't say it "was" a joke Phil so don't misquote me) but all I was trying to do was start a positive thread and get some people involved, "hey, lets post some pictures..." and my reception was a "mud puddle" and a "robbery." It's just like when I offered to help get corals for the club... the bashing couldn't come quick enough and all this from club officers to boot. So that I took offense to as someone was making a joke out of something I was trying to do, but I guess that's OK if it comes from an officer of the CVRC as we can see(not you). As far as the keeper of the reef statement.... I think it as funny as a mud puddle.... and it made a point, it just seems like you were the only one to get it, sort of.

(Also, I pm'd Mary everybody about the statement I wrote and here is an excerpt: "I generally try to get along with most people unless they rub me the wrong way and my reason for joining the CVRC was to promote reef keeping. 15 years ago I went up to Barry and tried to talk him into selling salt, and it has taken this long (in West Virginia) to get where we are at now - as far as reef keeping here in the area. Yet over and over again it seems like a certain few people have to throw flies in the ointment anytime someone tries to do something positive." I went on to say,"I guess what is going on between you and me is a microcosm of that... so here goes Mary... I'm sorry... can we please be more civil?" She pm'd me back and everything is OK. I think she got the point I was trying to make.)

It is utterly bizarre how trying to get some folks to share a few photos, maybe get a little discussion going in the "community" turns into this. If you didn't like the idea of posting pictures then by all means don't post any. But don't shoot someone else's idea or make a mockery of it, (a better choice of words) its just not cool and it sure as heck doesn't promote good interaction as this thread now vividly shows. As you said yourself Ron,"I used to post pics of my tank and information but I got to many PMs wanting stuff or wanting to argue about something I said and if I did sell a frag I would catch crap for that as well so I dont do it anymore." It just shouldn't be that way, and I would like to think that the people in this forum know better. I care alot about this club, all the people in it and reef keeping in general,(well, actually anything that lives in saltwater) and if I haven't been around since the beginning I am sorry. But I would like to think I still have something to offer as does everyone in our community from someone with a $30,000 tank to someone's little girl or boy with a "nemo fish." If everyone would just try to be a little more positive I think/hope it will get even better for the CVRC. I remember a discussion I had with you last December about posting how I set up my tank and why.... Remember the backwards reef? Thank goodness I didn't do that... talk about getting shot down!LOL But anyway, I don't want to offend anyone, I just want to enjoy my corals and fish and be around others who want to do the same. And just maybe we could help each other out, be positive and grow our community like we grow our corals and not get too jaded in the process. I said my peace.... Later all

I turned nothing around on you or anyone, my job of late has been that of a peacekeeper among the community I would like for us to get some stuff accomplished together as a group but it seems every month we have a thread like this. We joke a lot here on this forum it keeps us sane at times, jokes are great but Mary was not laughing at this one it's as simple as that, there was really no other intent except to insure that this thread did not go out of control.

My cycling club is membership based and feels like a community. I would have no concern at all inviting any one of the 150+ people to my house for a BBQ or whatever.

Woohoo, I'll be there!!! Want me to bring anything besides my bike???? :D

I'm with you Lee_Bay.

I am NOT sure what I missed....but I am sure I don't want to know nor waste time figuring it out. Not a happy place. I avoid unhappy place.
