posting pics?

[*img]http://www.yourpicture.com/picture.jpg[*/img]

but take the * out

Otherwise just click the IMG button when editing your post and insert the location of the picture

That's just not good IMG code:-)

Example:
[*IMG]http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l94/yaitisme/2006_0921005.jpg[/IMG*]

The * are there so Reef Centrals site doesn't execute the line of code.

I uploaded this photo to a free website called photobucket.com. The picture is located @ http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l94/yaitisme/2006_0921005.jpg, the IMG just tells Reef Central where to find it. If you upload your pics to photobucket, every pic will have three different prebuilt address links; a URL Link, a HTML Tag, and a IMG Code. Just cut the line of text and past it into the reply message box.

This is what happens when the same line in pasted into the reply without the *:

Scott, Is that real tile, or vinyl?

And

My wife would have killed me for putting rock on the table... plastic or not. Your wife loves you, or does not know.

BR, GO to Photobucket.com. Sign up for a free account, then up load a picture, then come back when your done with that part, that's the tough part.

Then you copy and paste the URL into your test as your tying the message.

The nice large sixe depends on ho much that site resizes your original... FOR example... here, the original was uploaded to the site as 3504 X 2336 x 24Billion colors.... check this out: upload time 3 minutes. file size: 4.55 mb

<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c205/jmkarcz/IMG_4192.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Now, I took the same image, resized it on my hard drive and look what happens... this is 900 x 600 x 24b Almost the size Photobucket wants you to upload... Time 22 seconds. file size: 652K

<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c205/jmkarcz/IMG_4192-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Now, here it is as 800 X 533 x 24b. 524k
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c205/jmkarcz/IMG_4192-2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Ok, This used to work... lets try one more...

600 x 400 x 24b 313k
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c205/jmkarcz/IMG_4192-3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Yes of course, there it is plain as day in the site...
Max Image Size 15" Screen (800 x 600)

Must be blind tonight -

but notice it only changes size once the first number drops below 800 like the requirement says...

PB auto sizes... but to save time, I use a photo editor to resize my pictures to as clost to 800 x 600 as I can, still going over, to allow for the mose out of the image that is seen. Of course, you can use photos from your Gallery here on RC.com, but the image size is much smaller... example... RC photo...
22888DCP_6668.JPG

and the same from PB.COM that I just uploaded...
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c205/jmkarcz/DCP_6668.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Point.
