Here is a picture from my tank. I was going to post this and
someone asked me how to post pictures. So as I posted I wrote
down the steps. There are a lot of steps. They are below.
I also needed to practice fonts/bold text

To post pictures on reef central or BRS there are three steps

1. You need to resize the image to less than 75k
You need software to do this. Here are a couple of links
explaining where to get the software. There are some free versions.

Step 2/3 are different on Reef central and BRS.
Here is the REEF Central version.

2. Upload the picture from your computer to reef central/brs

Good description here
http://www.reefcentral.com/faqs/imgcode/IMGCODE.htm

A. On reef central go to your home directory
(Select HOME top of page)
B. Select Photo Gallery ( Top left on home page under Main Menu)

C. Select Upload Photo ( Right side web page)

D. Select Browse button ( Right side web page)
This will browse your computer so you can select picture to upload.
E. Select Upload/Submit (middle bottom of page)

F. You should see the picture you just uploaded

There is a table on the bottom that states
Use this in img tag:
There will be a link.
example
http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/24612IMG_0005__Small_.JPG

Select the link and use the left mouse button COPY

3. Add the link to your posting

A Select New Thread or Post reply
(Quick reply does not have the IMG button you need)

B Paste the link from step 2 into form OK the form

C Submit thread or post reply

Thanks for the info. It is a pain sometimes to post pictures.
Also, if you are not a premium member on RC I think your pics have to be 50 k or less in size.

I use a photobucket account to post pictures. Free and you can have images up to 500k. Easy as pie to upload pictures and they provide the /img link for you to copy and paste.

Just wanted to say that I frequently have trouble with the image being just a link, not a picture, after I put it in my post. Has anyone else had this trouble? It is step 3 above where all my problems seem to occur, and that isn't quite clear to me....I should click the IMG button, paste the address for my picture into the box that pops up, click OK or whatever, I then see something like this in my post:
"
 address of picture
".
If I post my message, I'll see a link, not an image. When I go back in to edit, I'll see this:
"
URL ]
"
(I can't show the URL stuff exactly as it appears because it is confusing the editor as I try to post this--I added spaces to try to make it not a command here). I then erase the URL stuff, erase the linefeed to get the address and first on one line, and it seems to work. This seems weird...what am I doing wrong?

Theresa,
Nice tank, but the color seems off. Were you using flash? Were just the actinics on?
Mike,
Great clownfish picture.

You do not want the URL tags... Just the IMG tags on either end with the link in the middle.

Example:

{IMG}http:||whatever.com/mypicture.bmp{/IMG}

When I use photobucket to upload pictures it gives me the whole thing to copy and paste.

{IMG}http:||i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/Falmord/30longsump.jpg{/IMG}

I changed [ to { and // to || but I am sure you get it.

Good luck!
