Can any one tell me what might be eating around the margins of a few stag colonies I have? I have no idea how to spot redbugs or AEFW. I have quite a few small bristle worms, but thought they were harmless....
If the colonies are slowly receding tissue(stn) then check your parameters. Your alk might be low, that would be my first guess. Red Bugs will leave the acro tissue faded and thin. Blue acro seem to get RBs first. AEFW will take bitmarks out and lay clusters of eggs on the rim of the base. Dip the worst looking acros and see what you can find in a white styro dish.
my blues are fine. the worst is a blue tip green stag. it looks like an ant mined a trail around the margin and now is a bit green from algal growth. green slimers are next witht the tissue in the shade dying only. My params are absolutely perfect. I send samples into AWT once a month and all 15 params are good. (that has actually never happened before)
