Potter's and Flame Angel together

What are the chances of Potters and Flame getting along in a 180g. I would introduce them together, hoping the Potter will behave itself. Anyone have success with these two dwarf angelfish?

I think it's worth trying. 180g is quite a bit of space, I'm willing to bet they'll get along just fine.

They will be fine in a tank that size, they have diffrent body coloration which helps a lot.

Watch out for the Potter as they can be territorial and may go after the Flame even in that size tank.

I tried a Potter and a Flame about 4 days ago. The Potter almost killed the Flame. Although the Potter was in the main display tank 2 weeks prior. I had to catch the Flame and return him to the LFS or it would have never made it through the night. The Flame was only in there for about 10mins. and the fins were ALL ripped up fromn the Potter. They were both the same size about 2-3 inches.

Beware

Just make sure you release them both at the same time and give them lots of nooks and crannies to swim in when they feel threatened.

I plan on releasing both at the same time in a small frag tank, where I can easily take them out should anything go wrong. I also want to keep them together for 4-6 months with corals and clams to see if they will go after these as well prior to introducing them to the bigger display.

I also forgot to mention a daily regiment of food, so hopefully they will not have a fixation on mantels and such.

Any of the pygmy Angel may at anytime start to pick on corals or clams, so it alway a crap shoot with them. The problem is it mayn't happen today or tomorrow or even six month from now but all of a sudden they could start, and it has nothing to do with them being well feed all the time as Angels are grazers and are consistantly grazing and looking for food.

From my experience, the potters are more aggressive than the flames. IF you do decide to do this, give the flame an hour or two before you throw in the potters.

One of the things we forget when deciding that one fish has a different color pattern than another is that fish see in different color channels than we do. I'm not saying that for sure a Potter's angel looks like a flame angel to the fishes involved, but I am saying that maybe they do

There is also the question of what features of the pattern are zoned in on by the fish.
