Potters Angel in mixed reef

Does anyone have any experience with a Potters angel in a mixed reef? I have one on hold at an LFS, but after doing some research this weekend, it looks like these might be more prone to nip than other small angels. Especially SPS. Anyone with any personal experience.

Thanks

I would pass on the Potter's Angel. They have an absolutely dismal survival record:(

I picked up one from Beldt's a few weeks ago. So far so good, and he is eating like a pig and is somewhat aggressive with my Wrasse. He hasn't picked on any clams yet, so all in all a good purchase thus far.

I have heard though that they are hard to keep, and I know Fade32's parents tried several, and Chelsey has given it a go a few times as well with no success. :( :(

Is there a point you pass where you can deem the fish a success? I have had this one about 8 weeks I believe. Hopefully past the danger point....

Hey John, how long did your Potter's last for your parents?

I have read they are tough to keep. The one I have on hold is eating like and pig and looks awesome. I think I am going to give it a go. However, not if it will mow down my SPS. Are they tougher than the Regal Angel?

Great thread. I'm on the fence and will probably go back to the LFS and take a look at him again. Still might have to give him a try, but thank you guys for all the information.

Nook thanks for the study thread! There is some good info there.

I would suppose that Potter's Angels are just somewhat delicate. All the more so if they have been through the whole collection process, i.e. caught, shipped, etc.

I hope I am one of the lucky ones. I have some sponge and such in the tank, stuff to graze on, and he has eaten Rod's Food and Prime Reef flake and pellets from day 1!!!

Charlie good luck if you get one.

Thanks...I am still leaning towards getting him, but the Nook's information has been great. Glad I read everything, so I can be prepared in case I decide to give it a go. Good luck with yours zt444a. I do have a lot of rock for grazing.

Nook...looks like you were right. The potters passed away at the LFS yesterday. Was eating and looked great, then all of sudden...dead.

If they all died like that in the LFS, then they wouldn't be able to sell them and make money and eventually would learn not to buy that fish. The best thing to do is let the LFS keep them so they die on their dollar and not ours, then they will eventually stop bringing them in.

I know between fade32 and Chelsey, that they have gone through SEVERAL Potter's Angels and all have died:(

Anything could have hapened to it at a LFS though. Anything from an ammonia spike to getting picked on, not to mention I'd think stress levels are higher there too.

I will keep my fingers crossed on mine...
